25 March 2026 | New Day Myanmar
Officials from the Thai Border Committee (TBC) and the Myanmar military held a meeting on the morning of March 25 at the Ratchamanu Task Force headquarters in Mae Sot, Thailand, according to Thai media reports.
The meeting was led on the Thai side by Colonel Chanakan Saengson, commander of the Ratchamanu Task Force, while the Myanmar delegation was headed by Lieutenant Colonel Zaw Han Oo, commander of Infantry Battalion (275).
During the meeting, both sides discussed maintaining stability along the border, resolving border-related issues through peaceful means, and enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
They also exchanged views on security conditions near five border checkpoints in Tak Province, coordination on border affairs, and efforts to sustain bilateral relations.
The TBC serves as a regional mechanism for security cooperation between the Thai military and neighboring countries, playing a key role in addressing border issues through direct coordination at the operational level.
This meeting took place about a week after senior Thai military officials met with Myanmar’s military leader in Naypyitaw on March 17, reflecting ongoing cooperation on border affairs.
It also comes at a time when military activities have intensified in connection with efforts to reopen the Myawaddy–Kawkareik route and maintain control in border areas.
