This marks the first known visit by a foreign ambassador to Min Aung Hlaing following his election as president, prior to the formation of a new government.

During the meeting, both sides mainly discussed stability along the China–Myanmar border and the reopening of trade routes, according to the junta’s statement.

The Chinese ambassador also reportedly delivered a message from Chinese President Xi Jinping to Min Aung Hlaing.
