At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Myanmar military leader and President Min Aung Hlaing will pay a state visit to China from 15 to 19 June, according to an announcement by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 12 June.
According to the statement issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, the visit was officially arranged at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. During the five-day trip, Min Aung Hlaing is expected to hold discussions on bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and regional affairs.
The visit will mark Min Aung Hlaing’s first state visit to China since assuming the presidency and is being viewed as a significant development in China-Myanmar relations.
While neither side has released detailed information about the agenda, analysts believe discussions are likely to focus on the situation in Myanmar, stability along the China-Myanmar border, economic cooperation, and investment-related matters.
