Justice For Myanmar has called on the international community to impose sanctions on Myo Yadanar Htike, the daughter-in-law of Myanmar junta leader Min Aung Hlaing.
According to the group’s statement, Min Aung Hlaing’s family has invested assets in Thailand, including the purchase of a luxury property worth millions of dollars.
The property is located at Issara Residence Rama 9 in Bangkok and was developed by Charn Issara Development Public Company Limited, a company listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand. It was reportedly transferred to Emerald Princess Company Limited.
Emerald Princess is said to be linked to Min Aung Hlaing’s family, and the property was purchased under the name of Myo Yadanar Htike.
Justice For Myanmar stated that since Myo Yadanar Htike has not yet been sanctioned by any country, her name may have been used to acquire assets in order to circumvent international sanctions.
The group therefore urged countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Canada, and Australia to impose sanctions on her and close existing loopholes in current sanction measures.
