The State Coordination for the Emergence of a Federal Democratic Union has issued a statement welcoming the return of President Win Myint to his family, expressing joy over his release.

In a message dated April 22, SCEF noted that U Win Myint had been unlawfully detained since the military coup on February 1, 2021, and only returned to his family on April 17, 2026, after more than five years in detention. The group said it shares this moment of relief and happiness with both his family and the public.

The statement also extended well wishes for his health, resilience, and continued ability to serve the interests of the country and its people.

SCEF further reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside the public to secure the release of all remaining political prisoners, including Aung San Suu Kyi.
