Min Aung Hlaing Invites EAOs and PDFs to Peace Talks

Myanmar’s President Min Aung Hlaing has invited ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) and People’s Defence Forces (PDFs) to engage in peace talks.

The invitation includes both signatories and non-signatories of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), urging them to participate in discussions before July 31, marking the first 100 days of the new government.

The remarks were made during a Union government meeting held on April 20 at the presidential office in Naypyidaw.

Min Aung Hlaing also specifically invited groups that had previously signed the NCA but have not held talks in the past five years, including the Karen National Union, Chin National Front, and All Burma Students’ Democratic Front.

He further called on PDFs to join the peace process and “return to the legal fold,” stating that some members have already done so while others have expressed interest in cooperating.

The president said stability is essential for national development, emphasizing that without peace, development projects cannot move forward.

He added that agreements reached under the NCA and the Union Accord would be submitted to the upcoming Union Parliament for phased implementation.

The meeting was attended by Vice Presidents Nyo Saw and Nan Ni Ni Aye, Union ministers, and the Naypyidaw Council chair, while regional and state chief ministers joined via video conferencing.
