Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) has announced that it will reduce checked baggage allowances based on travel class for both domestic and international flights, effective from April 1, according to a statement released on March 23.
Under the new policy for international flights, checked baggage allowances will be set at 40 kg (2 pieces) for Business Class, 30 kg (2 pieces) for Economy Class, and 20 kg (2 pieces) for Economy Class (Saver & Promo).
For domestic flights, the allowance will be 30 kg (2 pieces) for Business Class and 20 kg (2 pieces) for Economy Class.
Hand carry allowances will also be adjusted for all routes. Business Class passengers will be allowed a total of 14 kg (2 pieces), while Economy Class passengers will be allowed 7 kg (1 piece). The weight of duty-free items will be included within the hand carry allowance.
Passengers exceeding the specified weight limits will be required to pay additional fees for excess baggage.
MNA stated that the changes are due to current operational challenges related to aviation fuel, and are intended to help ensure on-time performance of flights and prevent cancellations on both domestic and international routes.
