Three Civilians Killed, Five Injured by Artillery Shelling in Kyaukme and Hsipaw

Three civilians were killed and five others injured due to artillery shelling by the military council in the northern Shan State townships of Kyaukme and Hsipaw, according to local sources.

The shelling occurred on the afternoon of July 1, with the military council targeting Kyaukme Township. Two men and one woman were struck by artillery shells in Ward 8, resulting in their immediate deaths, locals reported.

In Hsipaw Township, artillery shells hit Sanpheikkwetthit at around 6:30 PM, injuring two men and three women.

In the past six days of renewed fighting between the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), PDF joint forces, and the military council, 25 civilians have been killed and 37 injured. Additionally, nearly 50 civilian homes have been destroyed.
