PDF Forces Bury 40 Fallen Soldiers’ Bodies Left for Nearly Three Months After Nyaung Shwe Battle

June 17, 2024

In southern Shan State’s Nyaung Shwe Township, bodies of over 40 soldiers who died in a battle nearly three months ago were buried by PDF forces due to the military’s failure to collect them. The Bees Column reported this on June 16.

The battle took place on April 13, 2024, between Nyaung Lay Pin and Yay Pu villages in Nyaung Shwe Township, involving the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) and the military junta. Despite the passage of almost three months, the junta did not retrieve the bodies of their fallen soldiers. Consequently, the Bees Column and the Central Special Operation Task Force collaborated to clear and bury the bodies.

The prolonged neglect by the junta, leading to the need for the PDF to step in and handle the remains, highlights the ongoing conflict’s harsh realities.
