Myanmar’s National Unity Government (NUG) Prime Minister, Mahn Win Khaing Than, has urged Thailand’s newly appointed Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, to continue supporting Myanmar’s democratic cause and assist in resolving the ongoing crises in the country.
In a congratulatory letter sent on August 19, NUG Prime Minister Mahn Win Khaing Than expressed his congratulations to Paetongtarn Shinawatra on her appointment as Thailand’s Prime Minister. The letter emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between the two nations for mutual benefit, particularly in areas such as the restoration of democracy in Myanmar, humanitarian assistance, border security, combating transnational crimes, and promoting regional peace and stability.
The NUG Prime Minister also expressed gratitude for Thailand’s ongoing support for the people of Myanmar in their struggle for democracy and highlighted the importance of Thailand’s role in the region.
Additionally, the letter acknowledged Paetongtarn Shinawatra’s historic achievement as Thailand’s youngest Prime Minister and the second woman to hold the position. Mahn Win Khaing Than noted that her leadership would serve as a powerful inspiration not only for Thai women but for women around the world.
