Junta forces carried out an airstrike using a jet fighter on the market in Yoe Ngu village, Ponnagyun Township, Rakhine State, at around 2:07 p.m. on February 24, according to a preliminary statement released by the Arakan Army (AA).
The attack killed a total of 17 civilians, including children and other non-combatants who were buying and selling goods at the market, and injured 14 others.
The statement also said that several homes and market stalls were set ablaze and damaged as a result of the bombing.
The AA said it is continuing to verify detailed information regarding civilian deaths, injuries, and material damage in Yoe Ngu village and will provide further updates.
