The northern Shan State town of Kyaukme was heavily bombarded by the military junta using jet fighters, resulting in the destruction of nearly 20 homes, according to a statement from the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) Information and Communications Department.
On the night of June 30, around midnight, the military launched a 500-pound bomb strike near One Love Hotel in Quarter 1, Kyaukme. The attack caused significant damage to the nearby Kambawza Shan Monastery and around 20 local residences.
Further, on the morning of July 1, the junta’s forces continued their assault with heavy artillery shelling in Quarter 9, causing a fire at a local gas station due to the explosion of a shell.
This follows another attack on June 29, around 10:30 p.m., when a 500-pound bomb was dropped by a military jet near the fire station in Naungcho Town, leading to the destruction of at least eight homes.
The ongoing military assaults have caused severe damage to civilian infrastructure and have instilled fear among the local population, forcing many to seek refuge and safety amidst the escalating violence.
