Reports have emerged indicating that the families of military officers stationed in Pyin Oo Lwin, also known as Maymyo, began relocating to safer areas starting from August 7. According to sources, the military is fortifying its defensive positions in the area.
Families of officers from various military units, including the Tha Tha Na Battalion, BE Battalion, DSA, and DSTA, are being transported to Naypyidaw using military vehicles. Reports suggest that these families are traveling in private vehicles, escorted to the capital for safety.
In contrast, the families of lower-ranking soldiers have been instructed to seek refuge independently in safer areas, while only the families of officers are being officially relocated to Naypyidaw.
“A significant increase in military presence is observed near military bases and strategic locations such as Moe Kyo Kwat Thit. There is heavy traffic of military vehicles entering and exiting the area. It seems that families of high-ranking officers are being relocated. However, there has been no sound from inside the DSA and DSTA compounds. Rumor has it that no leave is being granted to officers or other ranks from Maymyo, and they are being prepared for defense operations. Reinforcements are expected,” a local resident and military affiliate told New Day Myanmar.
Since 10 AM on August 7, vehicles arriving from Naung Cho have been restricted from entering Pyin Oo Lwin, and the military has declared a red alert for heightened security within the city. Enhanced security measures are visibly in place throughout the city.
