In the early hours of September 24, the military regime launched four consecutive airstrikes on Lashio, resulting in the death of one civilian and injuries to 15 others, according to local reports.
At around 1:30 AM, two 500-pound bombs were dropped on Rethike Hotel and Golden Sunflower Hotel in Ward 2, causing severe destruction and leaving nine people injured. The Lashio Reconstruction Network reported that, at approximately 4:00 AM, two more 500-pound bombs were dropped near the initial target, resulting in the death of one person and six others suffering serious injuries.
Buildings near the hotels were also damaged in the strikes.
This is the latest in a series of airstrikes on Lashio this month. The military regime previously bombed the city on September 8, 9, 10, and 21. Despite these continued attacks, the Kokang Army (MNDAA) announced on September 18 that it is not planning to expand its military operations into Mandalay or Taunggyi, following a joint statement from China and Myanmar regarding a diplomatic solution.
