Following the failure of ceasefire talks between the Myanmar military and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), which were mediated by China in Kunming, the junta launched two airstrikes targeting TNLA-controlled areas in Mogok, northern Shan State.
According to a TNLA statement, the airstrikes were carried out at around midnight on May 2 and again at 9 a.m. on May 3. Bombs were dropped on Kathae and Aukpyin wards in the western part of Mogok, destroying at least seven civilian homes. One civilian was killed, and another was injured in the attacks.
TNLA accused the junta of deliberately targeting areas without active conflict and reinforcing military operations across territories administered by the Palaung State Liberation Front/TNLA.
