As Myanmar’s military faces increasing losses against resistance forces in the northern regions, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is scheduled to visit the country from August 14 to 17, 2024, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian.
Wang Yi, a member of the Chinese Communist Party’s Central Committee and Foreign Minister, is expected to discuss deepening cooperation between China and Myanmar in various sectors during his visit. The visit is aimed at strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries and supporting Myanmar’s stability, economic development, and people’s welfare.
The spokesperson emphasized that China consistently adheres to its policy of non-interference in the internal affairs of neighboring countries and will continue to support Myanmar in resolving political differences through peaceful dialogue within the framework of its constitution and laws.
Following his visit to Myanmar, Wang Yi is also set to attend the 9th Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Thailand, where he will meet with foreign ministers from Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand.
