Reports have emerged that Bhaddanta Muninda Bhivamsa, a member of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee and abbot of Win Ni Mitha Monastery in Bago, was fatally shot by military security forces at the airport on June 19.

According to sources, the revered monk had arrived in Mandalay by plane and was shot by airport security forces as he was leaving the airport. It is reported that he passed away instantly at the scene due to the gunfire.

A close devotee of the monk revealed this information, which was also highlighted in the Yangon New Times news outlet. Currently, monks and devotees from Win Ni Mitha Monastery are on their way to Mandalay to retrieve the body of the deceased monk.
