In a sudden raid on Kyarkhe Village, Thayawady Township, Magway Region, the military junta forces have brutally killed five civilians, including burning four of them alive, according to local reports.
Following an October 25 nighttime drone and bomb attack by resistance forces on an approximately 80-soldier military convoy departing from Thayawady, junta forces entered Kyarkhe Village around 4 a.m. on October 26. In retaliation, they attempted to arrest the villagers, who tried to flee but were met with gunfire. A male villager was shot and killed instantly, while a woman was injured.
Four other men were captured and subsequently burned alive, with their screams heard throughout the area, eyewitnesses reported. The bodies of all five victims were left in the village square.
The four men who were burned alive were identified as U Thant Sein Min, U Myo Kyaw, U Min Thu, and U Win San Oo, all between 30 and 40 years old. The man who was shot, U Nay San Win, was 30 years old.
Around noon, junta forces took three additional villagers as hostages and returned to Thayawady, according to local sources.
