In response to the recent surge in gold prices, the junta has issued arrest warrants for 10 gold merchants, including prominent figures such as the owners of Aung Thamadi Gold Shop, Zaw Htet Gold Shop, Win Sein Gold Shop, and Academy Gold Refinery.

On May 30, 21 gold merchants were detained by the Special Investigation Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Following their statements, arrest warrants were issued for the following individuals:

  • U Aung San Win, owner of Aung Thamadi Gold Shop
  • U San Win, owner of Zaw Htet Gold Shop
  • U Aung Kaung Myat, owner of Win Sein Gold Shop
  • U Myo Thu Win, owner of Academy Gold Refinery

Due to their absence, their shops and homes have been sealed off. The junta’s propaganda media outlets have announced a call for secret informants to aid in the capture of these individuals.
