Resistance forces, comprising the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) and allied troops, successfully captured the Northeastern Regional Command Headquarters of the junta based in Lashio this morning, August 3, according to ground military sources.
The sources reported that all junta troops defending the headquarters have fled the site, abandoning their positions. These troops did not surrender their weapons but instead attempted to relocate and establish new defensive positions.
“They didn’t surrender their weapons. It’s more of a tactical retreat to relocate and set up new defenses. The Northeastern Regional Command Headquarters is now completely under our control,” the source stated.
A video released yesterday showed captured junta soldiers being treated at the Lashio Military Hospital, indicating that MNDAA and allied forces provided medical care to the detained soldiers.
This significant capture marks a critical point in the ongoing conflict, as the Northeastern Regional Command Headquarters was a crucial strategic point for the junta. The successful seizure demonstrates the growing strength and coordination of the resistance forces against the military regime.
