According to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), a total of 5,350 people have died during the Spring Revolution period. This information was released in a statement by AAPP on July 1, 2024.
The data collected by AAPP from February 2021 to July 1, 2024, indicates that 5,350 individuals have lost their lives. Additionally, there are around 2,000 cases still under investigation for confirmed killings.
AAPP’s records show that from February 1, 2021, to July 1, 2024, a total of 26,943 individuals have been arrested and detained. Out of these, 20,660 people are still under detention, with 9,239 of them having been sentenced to prison terms.
Among those unfairly sentenced, 124 have been given the death penalty. This includes 44 individuals sentenced in absentia, bringing the total number of those sentenced to death to 168.
The numbers reported by AAPP are based on the data they have been able to collect, and it is likely that the actual figures of incidents and casualties on the ground are higher.
