The National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) has called on the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) to immediately halt the fighting currently taking place in northern Myanmar and resolve their differences through political dialogue.

In a statement released on March 14, the NUCC said it views both MNDAA and TNLA not only as allies in the struggle against military dictatorship but also as brothers within the Union. It described the ongoing armed clashes as a partner conflict and urged both sides to resolve the dispute through peaceful political discussions.

According to background information cited in the statement, MNDAA and TNLA, together with the Arakan Army (AA), formed the Northern Alliance and jointly launched “Operation 1027” in 2023. The operation was considered one of the most significant military successes of the Spring Revolution and served as an example of unity among resistance forces.

The NUCC therefore urged both groups to value and preserve the historic achievements made through their previous unity, and to continue working together to dismantle all forms of authoritarianism, including the military dictatorship, and to build a federal democratic union.

The statement also referenced the NUCC’s political position issued on August 22, 2025, which declared that any disputes arising among revolutionary forces should be treated as partner conflicts and resolved only through peaceful means.

It further warned that the military junta is currently attempting to exploit both domestic and international avenues to create divisions among revolutionary forces.

The NUCC also stated that it stands ready to assist and support mediation efforts if necessary to facilitate political dialogue between the parties.
