The Myanmar military junta carried out airstrikes in Naung Cho, dropping 13 bombs on civilian-populated areas, according to a statement by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA). The airstrikes took place between 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM on September 13, 2024. The bombings targeted both the Naung Cho police station compound and nearby residential areas, causing significant damage to several buildings.
This follows a similar attack on September 6, when the junta dropped 500-pound bombs on Namhkam, killing 11 civilians and injuring 11 more, despite the absence of active combat in the area.
The military has been conducting airstrikes on TNLA-controlled towns such as Kutkai, Namhsan, Mantong, Thibaw, Kyaukme, Naung Cho, and Namhkam, targeting civilian locations with 500-pound bombs in what the TNLA describes as clear violations of international humanitarian law.
