In Kutkai, military airstrikes targeting civilian homes have resulted in the deaths of five local residents and injuries to four others, according to local sources. The bombing also caused significant damage to five homes and several shops in the town’s main market.
On the afternoon of August 5, military reconnaissance aircraft carried out multiple bombing runs. Bombs were dropped at 3:05 PM, 3:11 PM, 3:20 PM, and 3:30 PM, with a total of seven 500-pound bombs being deployed, causing severe destruction.
The airstrikes hit the central intersection of Kutkai town and the main market, where they exploded. The blasts killed three men riding motorcycles and two local residents, while four others were injured. The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) reported these casualties and damages.
In addition to the loss of lives, at least five homes and several shops were destroyed in fires caused by the bombs. The PSLF/TNLA’s fire brigade in Kutkai Township managed to extinguish the fires in time.
Previously, on July 27, airstrikes in Theinni, a town under MNDAA control, resulted in the deaths of seven locals. Recently, a hospital in Laukkai was also targeted by military airstrikes.
