The National Unity Government’s (NUG) Ministry of Human Rights has reported that the junta committed 352 human rights violations across Myanmar between July 1 and July 15. This statement, released on July 18, details numerous abuses, including 92 extrajudicial killings.
The reported violations encompass a range of atrocities, including arbitrary arrests, forced relocations, house burnings, forced labor, movement restrictions, destruction of religious sites, suppression of free speech, torture, sexual violence, cutting off humanitarian aid, recruitment of child soldiers, labor rights violations, and unfair judicial proceedings.
According to the NUG, Bago Region experienced the highest number of these violations, followed by Rakhine State, Shan State, and Mandalay Region.
Additionally, the Ministry’s records indicate that there were 67 incidents of mass killings nationwide in the first half of 2024, from January to June.
This alarming report underscores the continuing human rights crisis in Myanmar and the pervasive impact of the junta’s actions on the civilian population.
