Heavy Attacks in Kanbalu Township Leave 7 Dead, Including a Child, and 14 Injured in Two Days

Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region—Military operations, including drone attacks and bombings by the junta, have left 7 civilians dead, including one child, and at least 14 others injured over the last two days.

On September 27, in the afternoon, the junta forces stationed at Spaer Nant Tha village launched drone strikes targeting Raye Shin Gyi village, resulting in injuries to four men and three women, with one male traveler succumbing to his injuries.

Simultaneously, the junta dropped bombs on Aung Taing Lay village using drones, which resulted in the death of a 50-year-old woman. During the same period, a local woman from Spaer Nant Tha village was captured and killed by junta soldiers as they advanced into the village.

On September 27, the junta also attacked Thiri Mon and Metta Mon villages using Mi-35 helicopters. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties from the helicopter strikes.

The following morning, on September 28, the military carried out drone attacks on Hman Ni Pin village, resulting in the deaths of a 5-year-old child and four women, with at least seven others suffering injuries, according to local reports.

Earlier this month, on September 17 and 18, local PDF battalions and community defense groups launched two consecutive attacks on the junta’s outpost in Ma Lei village, Kanbalu Township, inflicting significant damage on junta forces. In retaliation, the military began indiscriminately targeting civilian areas with no active fighting, according to local sources.
