In commemoration of the 79th birthday of Myanmar’s public leader, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, embassies from the UK, Germany, Italy, and Denmark, along with the European Union, have posted flower images and paintings of her on their social media pages. These posts serve as a tribute to her enduring influence and legacy.
On this significant day, various activities are being held in liberated and resistance areas, including sports competitions, prayer events, marches, and flower protests to honor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. In urban areas, some individuals are also participating by sharing paintings and images of flowers on their social media profiles to express their solidarity.
Protest images with slogans such as “Unyielding Iron Roses” are being shared, while an underground resistance group known as “Rebel Group” has staged protests in crowded areas holding banners with “SUU” inscribed on them.
Dr. Tayzar San, a prominent revolutionary leader, had previously urged everyone to participate in the public movement by engaging in flower protests. He emphasized the importance of caution and safety, reminding participants to be vigilant while expressing their dissent.
The celebration of Aung San Suu Kyi’s birthday through these symbolic acts highlights the ongoing struggle for democracy and the collective efforts to honor a leader who remains an icon of resistance and hope for many in Myanmar.
