The Chinese government has proposed Ms. Ma Jia as the new ambassador to Myanmar, and the Myanmar military junta has accepted the appointment. This follows the departure of the previous ambassador, Chen Hai, who completed his term in July.
Ms. Ma Jia previously served as the Third Secretary at the Chinese Embassy in Yangon from 1995 to 1998. More recently, she has held senior positions at the Chinese Embassy in India, serving as the Minister-Counselor and Deputy Ambassador.
Her appointment comes at a critical time for Myanmar, as relations between China and Myanmar continue to play a significant role in the region’s geopolitics.
