At least 20 people were killed when the Myanmar military junta bombed a wedding ceremony in Mataw Village, Min Kin Township, Sagaing Region, according to local sources.
The attack occurred around 9 AM on June 3, targeting a gathering of villagers attending the wedding. The bombing resulted in casualties among the wedding guests, as well as the bride and groom.
A local source informed New Day Myanmar that the bride and groom were involved in the resistance movement, suggesting that a security breach might have led to the targeted bombing.
“The news leaked, and they bombed the wedding. The exact number of casualties is still unclear. Rescue teams are currently operating,” the source said.
As a result of the attack, residents of Mataw Village have fled to safer areas, fearing further attacks.
