A 34-year-old woman died in a landmine explosion in Mantong Township, Ta’ang Region, on June 17 at around 9 a.m., according to the TNLA News and Information Department. The victim, identified as Ya Ei Say, was searching for vegetables near the old 130th military camp of the SAC when she stepped on a landmine and was killed instantly.
The TNLA warned the public about the ongoing dangers of landmines and unexploded ordnance in areas affected by the 1027 military operations, advising caution when working or gathering vegetables in the forests and mountains.
Similarly, on June 11, a child was injured by a landmine explosion at an old SAC military camp in Mantong Township while searching for mushrooms. On June 8, another landmine explosion in Pan Law Village, Kyaukme Township, caused a civilian to lose a leg.
