On June 9, military junta forces entered Thakkekyin village in Monywa Township, Sagaing Region, killing one male resident, according to local sources. This incursion occurred without any active combat in the area. Additionally, over 50 villagers, previously detained in March, remain missing with no information available about their whereabouts.

In March, the military had entered Thakkekyin, killing one resident and detaining more than 80 villagers as human shields. Of those detained, only around 20 have been released, while the remaining 50-plus villagers are still unaccounted for, despite efforts by their families to locate them.

During the March operation, the military also set fire to homes in the village, resulting in the destruction of over 400 out of 500 homes. Among the casualties were three women who were trapped inside their burning homes.

The military junta continues to conduct raids in Monywa Township, frequently setting fire to civilian homes, indiscriminately shooting without provocation, and detaining individuals suspected of having connections with resistance forces. These acts of violence and suppression occur almost daily, further exacerbating the suffering of the local population.
