The military junta has conducted seven airstrikes in a single month on Lashio, a town in northern Shan State controlled by the Kokang Army (MNDAA), resulting in the deaths of three civilians and injuries to 38 others, according to an MNDAA statement.

The most recent attack occurred on September 27, when airstrikes on Lashio killed two civilians and injured six others. The bombings destroyed almost half of the city’s main market and severely damaged several buildings, causing widespread devastation among the local population.

From late August to September 27, the junta carried out seven airstrikes on Lashio without any reported clashes on the ground. The statement noted that airstrikes had intensified in the last week of September, targeting civilian areas.

“The junta’s cruel and inhumane actions, which completely disregard the lives and homes of the people, will forever stain their reputation in history as a symbol of shame,” the MNDAA declared in its statement condemning the attacks.

The airstrike campaign began on August 30 and escalated with at least six additional airstrikes in September, leading to further casualties and property destruction.
