The Myanmar military bombed areas controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) in Thibaw Township, Northern Shan State, dropping more than 50 bombs using Y-12 aircraft in a single day, according to local reports. The attacks occurred on September 16 and were followed by artillery shelling from the junta’s ground forces.

From 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on September 16, the military bombarded the western residential areas of Thibaw Town and the Sinmala Public Garden, causing widespread destruction to homes. One civilian was killed by shrapnel, and another was injured, sources said.

Additionally, on the night of September 15, at around 9:16 PM, junta forces stationed at a nearby camp fired heavy artillery into the Zatsu neighborhood, resulting in the destruction of a house that was burned down.

TNLA’s statement noted that the military’s aerial and artillery attacks have severely impacted civilians, leading to significant casualties and damage. Religious buildings, schools, and homes have been destroyed as the junta continues to target civilian areas.
