On August 4th, 13 civilians were killed and 19 others injured in airstrikes conducted by the Myanmar military in SinguTownship, Mandalay Region. The People’s Defense Force – Mandalay (MDY-PDF) reported the incidents yesterday.
According to MDY-PDF, the airstrikes targeted Kan Taung and Nway Yone villages in Singu Township. The attacks resulted in the deaths of 13 innocent civilians and injuries to 19 others. The MDY-PDF emphasized that there were no ongoing clashes in the area, and the military’s airstrikes were unprovoked, targeting civilian settlements.
The first airstrike occurred around 1 PM in Kan Taung village, killing three civilians, including a child, and injuring 13 others. The second airstrike targeted Nway Yone village around 3:30 PM, resulting in the deaths of 10 civilians, including a child, and injuring six more.
MDY-PDF’s statement highlighted that the military used cluster bombs in these attacks, which are banned internationally, leading to mass civilian casualties in areas without active combat.
